The Legacy Arts Program is a high quality intensive 8-week artist development and training program for Hartford residents in grades 5 – 10

“Talent is universal, but opportunities are not.” Aligned with the mission of The Legacy Foundation of Hartford, the Legacy Arts Program, developed under the direction of world class soprano and voice teacher, Jolie Rocke Brown, aims to give talented students in the urban and underserved markets of Hartford the opportunity to develop themselves as artists. Students are selected to participate based on an audition.

The 8-week program includes arts training and technique building in the areas of voice, theater and dance (Dance studio sponsored by Sankofa Kuumba Cultural Arts Consortium). Additional opportunities for master classes with guest artists, and sessions on health and nutrition, college readiness, resume building, career options for artists, and professional decorum are provided.

Parents are engaged and attend a seminar specifically designed for them. Parent seminars include college preparation, tips on being a supportive parent of an artist, career options for artists, choosing an arts instructor.
