September Newsletter 2026: Confidence, Connection and New Opportunities

From Martha’s Vineyard to fitness and wellness programming, see the experiences that helped Legacy scholars learn, connect, and grow this September.

September gave Legacy scholars several opportunities to learn, connect, and explore what comes next.

From Martha’s Vineyard to wellness-focused programming, our scholars took part in experiences designed to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and expose them to new possibilities.

This Issue Highlights

  • Empowered Girls, Limitless Futures: Nyla, Elise, Katie, and Adalia traveled to Martha’s Vineyard for an all-girls experience centered around the Black Economic Forum. They worked at the event, attended a Youth Summit sponsored by Advantage Solutions and McKinsey & Company, and participated in an HBCU College Fair.
  • HBCU College Fair: Legacy scholars and families connected with HBCU representatives and alumni, learned about different colleges and universities, and explored options for life after high school.
  • Fitness, Wellness & Growth: Our Legacy boys came together for a morning focused on fitness, wellness, teamwork, and personal growth. Through movement and conversation, scholars challenged themselves and connected with one another.

These experiences are part of how Legacy continues to support Hartford scholars through exposure, connection, and meaningful opportunities.
